Job Purpose
To deliver outstanding A Level Physics teaching within a British international curriculum in China, preparing students for external examinations (e.g., Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson Edexcel, AQA) and progression to leading global universities.
The successful candidate will foster academic excellence, scientific curiosity, and independent thinking while supporting students—many of whom are second-language English learners—in achieving ambitious outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
• Plan and deliver high-quality A Level Physics lessons aligned with the relevant exam board specification.
• Teach across the full curriculum, including physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry.
• Develop strong practical laboratory skills and ensure rigorous health and safety standards.
• Differentiate instruction to support a range of English language abilities.
• Integrate inquiry-based and student-centred learning approaches.
Assessment & Examination Preparation
• Prepare students for external A Level examinations and required practical endorsements.
• Set and mark assessments in line with international standards.
• Track student progress and provide targeted academic interventions.
• Support students with university preparation, including guidance for UK, US, and other international admissions.
Student Support & Enrichment
• Act as a homeroom/form tutor if required.
• Contribute to extracurricular science activities (e.g., Olympiads, research projects, STEM clubs).
• Provide academic mentoring to high-achieving students applying to competitive STEM courses.
Collaboration & School Contribution
• Work collaboratively within an international faculty team.
• Participate in professional development and curriculum innovation.
• Engage positively with parents and the wider school community.
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives and marketing/open day events as required.
Person Specification
Essential
• Bachelor’s degree in Physics or closely related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching A Level Chemistry (or equivalent pre-university qualification such as IB Diploma Chemistry).
• Strong understanding of British curriculum standards.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Cultural sensitivity and willingness to work in an international environment.
Desirable
• Previous international teaching experience.
• Experience teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
• Experience preparing students for competitive university admissions.
• Experience contributing to curriculum development in a growing school environment.
