Job Title: Spooling Operator Job Description

We are seeking a Spooling Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the precise and efficient spooling of wire at required speeds, including machine setup and adherence to specified tolerances. You will support cable manufacturing by preparing materials, distributing orders, and conducting visual inspections to ensure product quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate spooling machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring production meets required speeds and tolerances.
• Set up spooling equipment and prepare materials according to job specifications.
• Perform visual inspections of the entire cable during re-spooling to identify defects or inconsistencies.
• Cut cable to precise lengths based on customer or production requirements.
• Conduct spark test voltage verification when applicable to ensure electrical integrity.
• Distribute completed spools and materials to the appropriate production areas.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating industrial manual machines.
• Comfortable with laborious work and heavy lifting.
• Basic measurement and math skills.
• Experience cutting cables or material is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with shear and production line operations is beneficial.

Work Environment

The position is on the 2nd shift from 2:15 PM to 10:45 PM, Monday through Friday, with optional overtime on weekends. The work takes place in an industrial manufacturing environment that is not temperature controlled, which can vary with weather conditions. Candidates are required to wear steel-toed shoes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Marcos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
